Cajun Crackers

My grandmother, who I dubbed Granny Goose at a very early age for some unknown reason, taught me this recipe. She used to make this in mass quantities in a big pickle jar. And I probably ate the entire pickle jar, alone. This is soooo addicting, probably because of its unique flavor and that nice little spicy kick.

This is an unbelievably easy recipe that is perfect to keep as a light summer snack, a quick appetizer for a party, or even a homemade gift!

Notes:
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cayenne and red pepper flakes you use. If you are not a huge fan of spice, leave out the cayenne and be sparing with the red pepper flakes.
  • This recipe is also great with full size saltines.
  • You may need to adjust the amount of oil depending on your crackers. If you accidentally add too much, you can pour the crackers onto paper towels to drain.
  • The more you roll or shake these, the better the seasoning will be!

Cajun Crackers
1 lb oyster crackers or saltine crackers
2 packets ranch dressing mix
2 t. red pepper flakes
1 t. cayenne pepper (optional)
1 c. canola oil

In a large sealable container, pour in all of the crackers. On top of them, pour in all of the remaining ingredients. Shake until the ingredients are well distributed, at least five minute. Time permitting, every 20 minutes come back and remix. Store in an airtight container.
